Bamboo Garden
What actually constitutes the "soul of the bamboo"? Most of us know the atmospheric charm of East Asian ink drawings, in which the masters depict the essence of bamboo on paper in two dimensions with apparent ease: so typical are the shapes of its leaves with their branches as well as their stalks with the nodes and internodes. The fascination for these exotic plants has been increasing steadily in Europe at least since the 1970s.
At Rietzer Berg, the curious visitor may try to fathom the soul of the bamboo and the essence of its forms in three-dimensional space. A fascinating garden image, a mysterious world, was created on the hills surrounding a meadow. Here, the exotic plants grow next to imposing grass bushes that surround the so-called "Red Garden". It is mostly the tulips, hyacinths, red cornflowers and corn poppies that give this area the color.
