Art in the Park
Iron, wood, stone and clay are the dominant materials in the landscape park.
Iron
Iron in curved, organic shapes is a recurring element in the park and the buildings. The blacksmith Wolf Bartling from the neighboring village Wust implemented this artistic expression. As part of an art project, we want to create an open forge with interested people, in which they can also forge iron under the guidance of the experienced blacksmith Wolf.
Wood
The material wood is determined by the growth of the trees. This growth inspires artists and can guide their hands in processing the material. Quite a number of works made of wood were created on Rietzer Berg. The material wood emerges from nature and becomes nature again in the process of rotting.
Stone
Some believe that one has to see the spirit in the stone and only let it out by working it. Throughout the whole property there are various works of stone, amongst them Spanish capitals dating back to the 1940s.
Clay
Clay - what a wonderfully earthy and „grounding“ material: malleable, buildable or even removable, flexible, receiving the imprint of an artist. This is how lamps, masks, plant signs and more things were created. If you want to work with clay yourself, take part in one of our workshops for creating clay labels for our plants.
Painting
The landscape inspires painting in its own way. Many of the pictures indoors and outdoors are made by the artist Alexandra von Bieler and increasingly from participants in our art funding program.
