Sonja Crone
A little mini-adventure in solitude
Author and painter Sonja Crone gladly accepted our hermitage offer for artists. She was keen to try something new again. “It was like a little mini-adventure in solitude, which sometimes felt threatening and sometimes exciting,” says Sonja about her stay here. In any case, it awakened many emotions in her. Ideal material that can be turned into literature.
Born in the Rhineland area in Germany, she came to us from Switzerland for two weeks. She has lived there for 15 years and has made herself at home. Sonja has wanted to be a writer since she was a child and felt particularly drawn to poetry and enjoys writing it herself. With her poetry debut “Einen Spalt weit” in her luggage, she read from it on a sunny Sunday in the Landscape Park.
Inner pool for future work
She got up early every morning and went to bed early in the evening, exhausted from all the impressions. Trips to the monastery in Lehnin, to the city of Brandenburg and to Sanssouci Park in Potsdam made an impression on her. Here in Brandenburg, she always had the feeling that she was traveling with Fontane and following in the footsteps of Effi Briest, one of her favorite novels. While in Switzerland she was constantly pushing her bike uphill, in this flat land of Brandenburg everything seemed to be within easy reach by bike. And so she made a mistake on the second day and had to abandon her bike after four hours and take the bus back. What did she particularly notice here? Her own vulnerabilities became visible in nature, from which she was distracted by the noise and hustle and bustle of the city. Overall, she got much less writing done than she had planned. But the experiences and impressions she gained here will be an inner source for future works.
